We are so excited to be able to offer weekly online sessions for singers in grades 4 to 7 for the Fall term. Our sessions will be on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:00 pm on Zoom, starting on Wed Sept 16th.
Each session will include, but not be limited to, the following elements:
- Getting to know each other better
- Warming up our voices and our minds
- Working on our sight singing and musicianship skills. YES – we absolutely can still play Forbidden Pattern (our favourite solfege game) online!!
- Learning new music & singing some familiar melodies
- Having fun with each other and our music
As well, we are working to line up joint sessions with other choirs from across Canada, including the Coastal Sound Children’s and Youth Choirs in Coquitlam and the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir in Nova Scotia. We’re really excited to be collaborating with their music directors and singers and we know you will enjoy getting to know them as well. The first tentative date for a short Zoom collaboration is on Saturday, Sept 26th, but we’ll confirm this as soon as we know more details.
Miss Frances is also offering some modules open to all of her six choirs and you are welcome to check these out and register for any that interest you. More information about these optional modules can be found at choral-music.com.
Before our first session on Wednesday, Sept 16, each registered chorister will receive some resources via email to help them be prepared for our first session together. If you are uncertain if Online Choir is going to work for your child, you are invited to register them for an initial trial period of the first two weeks, for a cost of $20. We definitely hope that they will stay beyond the first two weeks, but this will give them the opportunity to give it a try before making the longer commitment.
And of course, we will continue to monitor public health advice and make preparations, so that we can return to in-person singing when it is deemed safe.
Cost for the Fall Term of singing is $200. Following registration, an invoice will be sent to you by email, outlining payment options.
